My workstation has a Super-Pi Benchmark of 10.32 seconds. This is the amount of time it takes a computer to calculate Pi to the millionth digit. The system is a very capable mid ranged workstation, comprised of: ASUS P7H55-M Pro Motherboard mATX Intel Core i5 660 3.33Ghz Processor 4G Corsair DDR3-1333 2X2048 Memory Intel X25-M… Continue reading Fastest Super-Pi benchmark!

Nvidia “Fake” RAID0 identical in speed to Fedora 12 Soft RAID.
Test Results I have often read that Fedora Logical RAID has better performance characteristics than a “BIOS” or “FAKE” RAID. That may be true in some cases. Today I dispelled that myth in regards to Nvidia BIOS RAID0 versus Fedora Logical RAID0. The test results were identical. Results were obtained with the latest Fedora 12… Continue reading Nvidia “Fake” RAID0 identical in speed to Fedora 12 Soft RAID.
Fastest Servers on earth for compiling Apache web server 2.2.11
I now have the 3 fastest benchmarks for compiling Apache web server version 2.2.11. The server I build that out performs everything else is the ECC® Sabre, which I build on a case by case basis. The results are published at Phoronix If you are interested in ordering an ECC® Sabre or any of the… Continue reading Fastest Servers on earth for compiling Apache web server 2.2.11
Fujitsu Siemens® Celsius R550 competitive with ECC® Spartan in Super-pi benchmarks!
Benchmark Results at Phoronix Results indicate that the Fujitsu-Siemens® Celsius R550 is nearly as fast as an EC® Spartan server in the Super-pi benchmark. Given that the Celsius costs more than twice as much, I’m reasonably pleased with the results. I’ll bet Fujitsu-Siemens® is NOT. According to this test result, the ECC® – Spartan is… Continue reading Fujitsu Siemens® Celsius R550 competitive with ECC® Spartan in Super-pi benchmarks!
Kudos to Phoronix!
Phoronix has officially been approved to have their benchmark utilities included in the Fedora 11 release of Linux. Congratulations! You can find out more at this link Phoronix Test Suite
Despite overwhelming performance evidence, some still promote AMD processors as superior.
In the last couple days I have spent some quality time, at Tom’s Hardware, reading. I typically enjoy the Best graphics card of the month articles. I check the latest graphics charts. I check the current CPU performance charts. I do that before I build a system. This time was no exception. I check the… Continue reading Despite overwhelming performance evidence, some still promote AMD processors as superior.
Phoronix Benchmarks revisited with new kernel.
Today I installed the latest Fedora 10 64 bit kernel. Any time I install a new kernel I benchmark it. Today’s results are available here: Phoronix Global Test result
Core 2 Duo vs. i7 920
Latest benchmark results: Phoronix Global This test computes Pi to the millionth decimal point. E8400 calculated the result nearly 1 full second faster. E8400 system tested has 2G of RAM. i7 920 System has 6G of RAM.
Quad vs. Duo
Another benchmark test this afternoon. Results were consistent with the previous results. An Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 outperformed an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 in several tests Quad outperformed in the SciMark2 Composite (by 20%) and Super Pi v2 (less than 1%) tests. Server performance
I have created several server environs in the past week. Today I bench marked one of my servers using Phoronix test suite. The results were astounding! My server running a Core 2 Duo E8400 processor was able to outperform an 8 way Xeon (Dell PowerEdge R900) and a 16 way Xeon server in standardized tests.… Continue reading Server performance
